Huge Nintendo releases may have been a little quiet since Monster
Hunter: Rise’s wildly successful launch back in March, but New Pokemon Snap! is
now just around the corner. This exciting event isn’t lost on camera
manufacturer FujiFilm, who have just announced a partnership with Nintendo for
an all-new Pokemon-themed Instax Mini Link printer. Releasing day and date alongside
Pokemon’s dedicate photography simulator on April 30th, this nifty little
gadget is perfect for printing out all your in-game snapshots.
News of this comes by way of FujiFilm’s official news blog,
where it refers to the Instax Mini link printer as “a new way of enjoying
Nintendo Switch”. The device already existed before as a smartphone printer
that operated via Bluetooth. Now, however, FujiFilm has made it so the same is
possible with your Nintendo Switch, even providing a range of pre-set frame
designs to further let you Nintendo-fy all of your worthwhile screenshots. All that’s
needed is a new “Instax for Nintendo Switch” app downloaded to your phone, which
can then speak to your console and ultimately print out your pictures.
The Instax Mini Link printer itself boasts a new “Ash White
(Red & Blue)” colourway, being inspired by both the animated series’ iconic
protagonist and the original two Game Boy titles from 1996. This will be available
for purchase on April 30th on its own, but players who pick up the
special edition bundle kit will receive a Pikachu-themed silicon case that will
neatly slide over the Instax Mini Link Printer.
Such tech is a clear harken back to the days of the Game Boy
printer, and is a timely arrival that will no doubt appeal to players looking
to pick up New Pokemon Snap! on Nintendo Switch. We haven’t noticed any
pre-orders going live yet, but Pokemon fan site Serebii.net have noted that the
special edition Instax Mini Link printer bundle kit will retail here in the UK
for £110. Presumably that price will also cover printer paper for you to get
started.
