Insomniac Games had fantastic success with their two previous Spider-Man games as they shared with us their version of the world's most popular superhero. This story now continues with Marvel's Spider-Man 2 as Peter Parker and Miles Morales must team up in order to take on Venom before he destroys the whole of New York. Expect more original takes on iconic villains as you swap between both Spider-Men to keep the expanded take on New York safe.
New gameplay improvements to combat, traversal and more should build on the already fantastic foundations of the Insomniac's previous Spider-Man games to make this their best yet. We're also excited for a story with a darker tone as a result of Venom and the symbiote playing such a large part in the plot of this new game.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2's New York now has the boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens as well as locations like Coney Island. A bigger world means more secrets to uncover and enjoy as well as freshening up the locale of the game. In addition to the world being larger your ability to traverse the world has been enhanced as you have access to a wingsuit. We're expecting this wingsuit to play a large part in how Peter and Miles are going to get around in these new areas of New York. Insomniac has also suggested web-swinging will be faster than the previous games with greater momentum between swings. All of these things combined will lead to traversal feeling better than ever in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
As a result of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 featuring both Peter and Miles Insomniac is given the ability to swap between the characters, this means you'll have access to two different playstyles when it comes to combat. This keeps up the variety in gameplay and helps to keep things interesting. From what we've seen in gameplay trailers combat has a much more visceral feeling with combos and finishers being way more impactful than in 2018's Spider-Man game. Also with a story based around the symbiote, we look forward to seeing a set of new symbiote-based abilities as the game advances to give even more options in combat.
In addition to the game having several editions, Sony has also decided to release the first limited edition PS5 console bundle to celebrate Marvel's Spider-Man 2. The console is already available for pre-order and will come with a unique design depicting Spider-Mans struggles with Venom on both the console and the controller. You can also get the console cover/controller separately if you already own a PS5. The console releases September 1st and will come with a digital copy of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (standard edition).
