An exciting update from the PlayStation blog has revealed that we will get our first proper special edition PS5 console release since the console was originally dropped back in 2020. It will be themed around Insomniac's next big PlayStation exclusive Marvel's Spider-Man 2. This new PS5 bundle will contain a Spider-Man 2 console cover and DualSense controller all based around Peter Parker's battle with the symbiote that we are going to see within the game itself, as well as a digital version of Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Also don't worry if you already have a PS5 console and want to get these new goodies, they're going to be released separately as well, so if you just want to pick up the console cover or controller you can do that. Great move from Sony to make these available separately meaning collectors can get in on the action without having to splash out on an entirely new console bundle. The new PS5 bundle and its contents are going to be available for pre-order on July 28th and will release on September 1st, quite a bit of time before the games release on the 20th of October. With all that said let's take a look at the designs.
So the PS5 bundle itself looks like is only coming in the standard physical edition and we won't be seeing a PS5 Digital bundle for this release however, the console covers are available for both digital and disc PS5s. The design itself on the console contrasts black and red clearly depicting the black tendrils of the symbiote taking over the bright red symbolising Spider-Man, with a stark white spider symbol on both sides really bringing it all together. The controller also takes the same theme as the console cover and together they look fantastic. Once again this new PS5 bundle will be available to pre-order on July 28th and you can see below in our comparison block where you can pre-order.
Don't worry if you already own a PS5, PlayStation have you covered as both the controller and console covers will be getting released separately so you can customise your PS5 set-up to make this new official bundle. This is way cheaper than buying a second console which is what collectors had to do in previous generations. Keep in mind these limited editions are going to go out of stock quickly so keep your eyes peeled on the 28th of July for when the pre-orders take place, we've already seen the God of War: Ragnarok and Hogwarts Legacy DualSense controllers fly off the shelves.
