In a staggering feat that shouldn’t surprise many, Grand Theft Auto V continues to lead the way as one of the most popular video games – and entertainment products, in general – ever. Rockstar’s popular open-world smash hit originally released for PS3 and Xbox 360 back in 2013, but it’s now been revealed that it is still lighting up the sales charts as the best-selling game in the UK so far in 2019.
As revealed in revealed in the ESA’s (Entertainment Retail Association) industry market report, GTA V has sold 361,312 e in the UK throughout the first half of 2019. Trailing just behind it with 360,588 copies sold was FIFA 19, and then just behind that is The Division 2 with 263,520 UK sales. Of the UK’s best-selling 2019 games, only four out of the top 10 actually released in 2019 (and one of these was a remake of a game that originally came out in 1998).

People just can’t seem to get enough of GTA V, it would seem. You’ll notice that Rockstar’s latest release, Red Dead Redemption 2, is nowhere to be seen – but this is to be expected given its setting arguably having less universal appeal. It also most certainly helps that the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Rockstar’s modern classic only continues to drop in price.
