The past two weekends have been Diablo fueled for a few of us following the closed beta and open beta for Diablo IV. I got a solid 30 hours in over both weekends and it's safe to say I'm pretty excited for the launch on June 6th, I don't think I'm alone with millions of people jumping into the beta to earn their wolf pups and trying out the next foray into the world of Diablo. It seems like Xbox themselves are also pretty excited about the release of Diablo IV as they're releasing an official Xbox Series X Diablo IV bundle. Sadly this isn't a special edition Xbox Series X it's just the standard black console with a new box art which does look pretty clean though with Diablo IV's antagonist Lilith making a menacing appearance. Alongsi This is the first Diablo-themed console bundle we've seen since the Diablo 3 Nintendo Switch back in November of 2018.
The Diablo IV bundle is going to be released on the 6th of June which is of course Diablo IV's official release date. It's a bit of a shame that this is only the standard digital version of the game as the deluxe versions of the game have 4 days early access so if you buy this bundle there's not any way for you to play with the 4 days early access as you simply don't have you console before-hand. Diablo IV is attempting to open the ARPG genre to the masses with more multiplayer features than ever and a massive open world to explore, there's plenty here to like if you're an ARPG fan or you want to dip your feet into the genre. Also if you played previous Diablo titles Diablo IV is going back down the much darker thematic routes of Diablo 2 as opposed to the rather colourful Diablo 3.
Microsoft is currently in the process of acquiring Activision Blizzard in one of the largest deals in gaming history but due to the size of this acquisition, there is a lot of approval required by different regulators etc. Some people may have thought this deal would be done prior to the release of Diablo IV and that the game may be on Xbox's Game Pass Ultimate service but this is not looking to be the case. It's possible that Diablo IV may one day be on the service but it will not be at release and we have no idea when it would be.
Regarding the value of this bundle, it's being priced at £489.99 so if an Xbox Series X is £449.99 and Diablo IV RRP is around £59.99 you're saving around £20 by picking this one up. It's a pretty solid deal but I do think it would have been a lot more enticing if they'd packed in the digital deluxe editions with the early access. However, if you're in the market for an Xbox Series X and you know you want to journey into the world of the sanctuary as Diablo IV then this might be the bundle for you as long as you're not too bothered about the early access. You're getting a beast of a machine with an Xbox Series X with great framerates at high resolutions and will be able to take advantage of Xbox's Game Pass Ultimate which offers the best value in gaming right now with so many great games available to download as soon as you pick up a subscription.
