Diablo IV Release Date Trailer

Heroes of Sanctuary return in Diablo IV on PlayStation, Xbox and PC on June 6th!

It's been almost 11 years since the original release of Diablo III on PC and whilst that game has seen many seasons (season 28 being just on the horizon) and changes over the years I think most Diablo fans are very much ready for the next proper instalment in the series, let's ignore Diablo Immortal. Diablo IV is definitely bringing the aesthetic back to a more dark and dreary atmosphere akin to what we saw in Diablo 2, and visually for an ARPG Diablo IV is looking absolutely stellar. Diablo IV will be the first Diablo game where you can customise your character as you play as one of the five starter classes: Barbarian, Druid, Rogue, Necromancer and Sorcerer.

Diablo IV will feature seasonal content inspired by Diablo III and battle passes and microtransactions. Blizzard has reassured fans that these features we often now see in modern gaming to support further development will be entirely cosmetic and there will be no bought power. Let's hope Blizzard sticks to this.

Slay countless demons and collect legendary gear as you play your part in the endless war between the heavens and hells of Sanctuary this June. If you're interested in finding the best cheap deals for Diablo IV look no further than our comparison above!

A focus on class identity and player choice

Blizzard is moving away from the rune-based skill system of Diablo III and re-instating a skill tree system. Each class is going to have its own unique identity to encourage players to step out and try other classes. Within each class, you will be able to create your own builds by focusing on different areas of the new skill tree. For example, a Necromancer could build towards being a full-on general of the dead with a horde of minions to control or could focus on dealing out damage themselves via dark magic. This is pretty typical of an ARPG.

You will be able to re-specialise your character to reallocate your skill points however there will be a cost attached to this which will grow higher and higher as your character progresses further into the game. Blizzard seems to want your build choice to be intrinsic to that character and not something you simply move away from due to the expensive nature of these re-spec costs. It will be interesting to see how this is received, this is definitely something that Blizzard may go back on if players prefer the more casual approach of easily altering their character's build like in Diablo 3.

Diablo IV will be an open world with cross-play multiplayer

One of the things that really separates Diablo IV from other ARPGs is the fact that it's looking to be an open-world game. On launch, there are going to be several different regions that players can explore in any order all harbouring their own threats and secrets. This open world will also be shared meaning you will often see other players around as you explore the open world and in towns however dungeons will be instanced for you and your party members. This is important as Diablo IV will feature world bosses/events that are going to take many players to take them down in order to share their spoils. Just a note that this does mean that Diablo IV will be an always-online game and will not feature any offline mode which is a shame but somewhat expected now in modern-day gaming.

Another great online feature will be the fact that there will be cross-platform cross-play. This means whether your friends are on PC, Xbox or PlayStation it doesn't matter you will be able to group up together.
