A new blog from PlayStation has unveiled more information regarding their next awaited piece of hardware the PSVR2. This blog contained a lot of information including its price, release date, new charging station and much more. They've also revealed images of the potential box art for the PSVR2 as well as a PSVR2 Horizon Call of the Mountain Bundle, keep in mind these are subject to be changed.
If you're ready to hear more about PSVR2 and specifically how big a hole it's gonna burn in your pocket, let's go...
PlayStation VR2's price is varied depending on the region and it's most certainly not cheap, PlayStation have given us prices for the PSVR2 solus and PSVR2 Horizon Call of the Mountain bundle. EUR and GBP prices include tax.
This does seem quite expensive considering the hardware is effectively outpricing the PS5 console that is required in order to use it. Buying both a PS5 and a PSVR2 is going to cost you a minimum of £919.98 here in the UK if you chose to buy a digital PS5. I think this price is definitely going to be a stretch for a lot of people but the reality is that this is an advanced piece of kit that was never going to come cheap. We can also garner from this that they're charging £40 for Horizon Call of the Mountain as a digital code in the bundle; we'd expect this to be more expensive outside of the bundle so maybe this will be around £50 on the PSN store.
Comparing this to the original PSVR's price it is significantly more expensive. PSVR was released at $399.99, €399.99 and £349.99 so this is definitely quite the jump. However, it is also a huge technological upgrade over its predecessor so a higher price was anticipated.
The PlayStation VR2 release date is February 22nd 2023. Pre-orders are set to go live for players in the US, UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg on November 15th direct from PlayStation. You can already register for pre-orders. We'd expect local retailers from these regions to have pre-orders much closer to the date of release. It looks like Horizon Call of the Mountain will be a day one exclusive for the PlayStation VR2 also releasing on February 22nd 2023.
It's going to be interesting to see if PSVR2 suffers the same stock issues the PS5 has, we'd lean on the side of it not as it being a far more niche product than the premium home console however scalpers are most certainly relentless in this day and age so we wait with bated breath. If you're keen to learn more check out our dedicated PSVR2 deals page which will be updated with the best deals and prices as retailers in the UK get hold of PSVR2 closer to its release.
