It’s proving to be quite the major week for all things Xbox Series X/S and Microsoft, as now the American platform-holder has officially confirmed its souped-up next-gen console’s Day One price, as well as when players around the world can start placing their pre-orders. The Xbox Series X will retail for £449, the Xbox Series S will retail for £249 and both will be up for pre-order on September 22nd. That is just a little over two weeks away.
The news was revealed via a post over on the Xbox News Wire, where Head of Xbox Phil Spencer went into great detail about all the different purchase options for both the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series S. “On November 10, a new generation of console gaming begins,” he stated. “That’s when our vision becomes reality with the most performant, immersive and compatible next-generation console gaming experiences, and the freedom to play your games with your friends, anytime, anywhere.”

Of course, the most important dates everyone wanted to know is when the consoles would be available (November 10) and when they’d be up for pre-order (September 22). Now that we have both, it’s surely only a matter of time until PlayStation follows suit. This news come only a day after legitimate leaks that forced Mircosoft to finally confirm the existence of the Xbox Series S. This likely forced it to move up its marketing timeline a little, which has led to today’s new announcements.
We’ll be sure to let you know at which UK retailers both the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will be available to pre-order. Until then, keep your calendars free on Sept. 22 as there’s no telling how much stock of these machines Microsoft has ready to sell through.
