Yesterday, Sony kicked off the summer with their latest State of Play. In a brief and focused event that ran just shy of 30 minutes, they announced plenty of things for PS4, PS5 and the upcoming PSVR2.  But what were the biggest announcements of June’s State of Play? Check out our breakdown below.

Street Fighter 6 Promo

New announcements:

Resident Evil 4 Remake

Following hot off the heels of the popular Resident Evil 3 remake, the most acclaimed Resident Evil game is finally getting an upgrade. Resident Evil 4 has been built from the ground-up and features outstanding graphics and the same intense gameplay you’ve grown to love from the original game. Resident Evil 4 is coming to PS5 on March 24th 2023.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered PC

Continuing Sony’s plan to bring more exclusives to PC platforms, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is coming to PC on August 12th 2022. That’s right, PC players who weren’t able to play what could possibly be the best superhero game ever made can now thwip around New York city this summer.

Street Fighter 6 Reveal Trailer

After a tease earlier in the year, we finally got to see Street Fighter 6 in action, and it’s clear Capcom are trying some new things for the franchise. Shown off in the trailer were exploratory street sections (Streets - in Street Fighter? Absurd!) which seem to indicate a high quality story mode. There’s also a real-time commentator feature which will make you feel like you’re competing in a high stakes tournament, if that’s your kind of thing. Street Fighter 6 is releasing on PS4 and PS5 sometime in 2023.

Rollerdrome Announcement

The most unique game of the show, Rollerdrome is a cell-shaded arena shooter that mixes roller skates and guns. It’s coming to PS4 and PS5 on August 16, 2022, and it’s definitely one to keep an eye on.

Eternights Announcement

One for the anime fans, this bombastic persona-esque title has everything you’ve come to expect from such a game. It’ll be hitting your PS4 and PS5 early in 2023.

New trailers:

Stray Trailer

Stray was announced a while ago, and since then it has gained an incredible popularity, for obvious reasons. You play as a stray cat who must unravel the secrets of a forgotten city and return home. Fortunately, it’s coming out very soon. Stray will be hitting PS4 and PS5 on July 19th 2022.

The Callisto Protocol Trailer

Spiritual successor to Dead Space, this terrifying game cranks the space horror’s intensity to 100. If you’re ready for people in space to hear you scream, The Callisto Protocol drops onto the PS4 and PS5 on December 2nd 2022.

Season Trailer

This charming game sets you off on an adventure to record as much as possible about life as we know it. A relaxed adventure with a great artstyle, this is a perfect game for keen-eyed explorers. Season will arrive on your PS4 and PS5 this Autumn.

Tunic Trailer

Tunic recently released on Xbox and PC to critical acclaim. Now this adorable adventure is coming to PS4 and PS5 on September 27 2022.

Final Fantasy XVI Trailer

Fire, destruction, wind, and war is what was seen in Final Fantasy XVI’s latest trailer.
Kingdoms are at battle and use deadly summoning magicks to turn the tide of war. While we were all hoping for a solid release date, unfortunately we’ll have to settle for ‘Summer 2023’.

PSVR2 announcements:

Resident Evil Village PSVR2

Kicking off the PSVR2 showcase was Resident Evil Village’s VR mode. As if the game wasn’t freaky enough, now you can experience the terror up close and personal when PSVR2 launches.

The Walking Dead Saints and Sinners PSVR2

Often touted as one of the best VR games on the market, The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners is not only receiving PSVR2 support, but also a new chapter: Retribution - which is coming later this year.

No Man’s Sky PSVR2

Darling No Man’s Sky has recently turned reputation around on itself, becoming a favourite among gamers who want a chilled sci-fi adventure. Now it’s getting a PSVR2 version which looks absolutely incredible.

Horizon Call Of The Mountain PSVR2

The killer PSVR2 announcement was Horizon Call of the Mountain. A VR spin-off of Sony’s incredibly popular Horizon franchise. Fight robot dinosaurs, climb dizzying heights, and experience an average day in the post-post-apocalypse all in VR.

Those are the biggest State of Play announcements, but which  has you most excited? Will you be getting a PSVR2 when it finally releases? Let us know below.
