Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is the next big FPS game hitting PC and consoles on October 28th 2022.
However, like with most AAA games that are released, there are multiple editions, bonuses and places to pre-order from. This guide aims to help you decide which edition to pre-order, where to pre-order and how to get the most out of your money.
What are the different Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II editions?
Fortunately, unlike other recent game releases there are only two Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II editions in the UK, so deciding which one is right for you should be an easy task.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II - Vault Edition - what’s included?
The big and most expensive Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II edition is the Vault Edition. Surprisingly this is a digital-only edition, but comes with the most content and coolest in-game cosmetics.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II: Cross-Gen Bundle:
Naturally, the Vault Edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II - includes the cross-gen bundle of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. With the Xbox version giving you access to Modern Warfare II on the Xbox One as well as the Series X & S, and the PlayStation version entitling you to both the PS4 and PS5 versions respectively.
Red Team 141 Cosmetic Pack:
The first goodie you receive as part of the Vault Edition is the Red Team 141 cosmetic pack. This pack allows you to play as exclusive versions of the main Modern Warfare II characters in multiplayer. The operators include Ghost, Price, Soap and Farrah, each looking like brutal mercenaries ready to get the job done.
FJX Cinder Weapon Vault:
A mysterious addition, buying the Vault Edition unlocks the FJX Cinder Weapon Vault. This is a set of unlocks for Modern Warfare II’s Gunsmith mode. While we don’t know a lot about Gunsmith just yet, we do know it’s a robust system that will allow you to customise and retune your weapon to match how you want to use it. Presumably this will unlock a set of fire-like skins and parts for Gunsmith, but we’ll have to wait to find out in a few months.
Season 1 Battle Pass + 50 Tier Skips:
Purchasing the Vault Edition will give you access to the Season 1 Battle Pass, where you can unlock a multitude of epic loot. In order to help you complete the Battle Pass, you’ll be given the ability to skip the first 50 levels, meaning that you can get to the end of the Battle Pass before most others.
Ghost Legacy Pack - Call of Duty Warzone:
The moment you pre-order the Vault Edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II you will get access to some previously released Call of Duty: Warzone content.
The Ghost Legacy Pack gives you skins for the Ghost operator in Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019).
The following skins are included in the pack:
- Last Breath
- Dark Vision
- Classic Ghost
- Winter Theatre
- UDT Ghost
You also get the following 10 Assault Rifle Weapon Blueprints:
- Oscar Mike
- The Wages of Sin
- Stem the Tide
- White Noise
- Kingly Splendor
- Jumping Spider
- The Breakup
It’s also worth noting that these won’t be the only instant-unlock rewards given by the Vault Edition of Modern Warfare II. However, we don’t know what else that entails right now. More details have been promised soon.
In-Game Store Day One Bonuses:
If you purchase the Vault Edition of Modern Warfare II you’ll receive 10 hours of double XP for your profile and also 10 more hours of double XP for your weapons starting the day it releases.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II - Standard Edition, what’s included?
All digital console versions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II include cross-gen versions for the applicable consoles, whereas not every physical version does. The Xbox version of the physical edition does include both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X & S versions, and the PS4 version does include the PS5 version. However, keep in mind that the PS5 version does not include the PS4 version.
For simplicity, every physical version but the PS5 copy includes a cross-gen version.
